This year’s legislative session was significantly different than past sessions with a Republican governor and new leadership of the executive branch, most notably in that additional spending for new programs was significantly reduced.  As usual, the legislature passed hundreds of new laws.  Among the more important new laws was continuing the delay in granting permits for using hydraulic fracturing to produce natural gas, updating the Public Information Act to make it easier for citizens to find out what is going on in their local government, and allowing ex-felons to vote after release from prison even if still on probation.  If you didn’t like some of these new laws, this will be a chance to tell one of your legislators how you feel to his face.
